Job summary

ProspectBlue is hiring an Insurance Claims Counsel for its in-house claims team in Richmond, Virginia. You will evaluate complex claims, analyze coverage and exposure, and drive matters toward resolution while coordinating with outside counsel and experts.

The ideal candidate has a J.D., an active U.S. license, and 2+ years in insurance coverage, claims, or related litigation, with strong analytical, writing, and negotiation skills. This is an in-office role in Richmond with no remote work.

Qualifications

• Active law license in at least one U.S. jurisdiction and in good standing.
• 2+ years of experience in insurance coverage, claims, litigation, or a related legal practice preferred.

Responsibilities

• Evaluate and manage complex claims from investigation through resolution.

• Develop coverage positions, claim recommendations, and resolution strategies.
• Manage and collaborate with outside counsel, experts, and other claims professionals.

• Communicate effectively with insureds, brokers, attorneys, and internal stakeholders.
• Partner with senior claims leadership on complex matters and claims-handling best practices.

Insurance Claims Counsel – In-House Opportunity

Position Overview

ProspectBlue is partnering with a recognized leader in the specialty insurance industry to hire an Insurance Claims Counsel for its in-office claims team in Richmond, Virginia.

This is an excellent opportunity for an attorney with experience in insurance coverage, claims, and/or complex litigation to join an in-house team. The Claims Counsel will evaluate complex claims, analyze coverage and exposure, work with outside counsel, and help drive matters toward resolution.

Experience with professional liability, including legal or medical malpractice, employment practices liability, directors’ and officers’ liability, errors and omissions, commercial liability, or bodily injury claims is highly relevant. E&S insurance experience is preferred but not required. Strong litigators interested in transitioning into the insurance industry are also encouraged to apply, with training provided.

This is a 100% in-office position in Richmond, Virginia with no remote or hybrid schedule.
