Job summary

American National is seeking a Staff Attorney, Contracts to join its in-house legal team in League City, Texas. The role focuses on reviewing, drafting, redlining, and negotiating commercial agreements, including NDAs, technology agreements, and third-party contracts.

Expect collaboration with Procurement and business teams to resolve issues and efficiently finalize agreements. The ideal candidate has a JD, U.S.

Qualifications

• JD from an accredited law school.
• Active license to practice in any U.S. state.
• 1–3 years of relevant experience in contracts or transactional work.
• Interest in commercial, transactional, corporate, or M&A work.
• Strong issue spotting, negotiation, proofreading, written communication, and relationship-building skills.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office and PDF tools.

Responsibilities

• Review, draft, redline, and negotiate commercial agreements, including nondisclosure agreements, technology agreements, and contracts for third-party products and services.
• Identify and address legal and business risks involving liability, governing law, dispute resolution, and other key contract terms.
• Partner with Procurement and business teams—including Marketing, Finance, and IT—to resolve issues, communicate practical guidance, and complete agreements efficiently.
• Manage competing priorities, take ownership of contract reviews, and escalate complex matters when appropriate.
• Support the continued development of the contracting process and the responsible implementation of legal technology and AI tools.
