Job summary

Sylvan Global Holdings, a fast-growing, AI-enabled construction services platform, seeks an experienced Commercial & Regulatory Attorney to join its in-house team in North America. You will negotiate and manage construction project agreements, advise on regulatory compliance across the U.S., Canada, and Mexico, and support growth through programmatic M&A.

Regular cross-functional collaboration and periodic travel are expected.

Qualifications

• Juris Doctor from an accredited law school and active U.S. state bar membership; Michigan admission or eligibility within a reasonable period after hire.
• At least 5 years of relevant legal experience in firms or in-house.
• Experience drafting and negotiating a range of complex commercial agreements.
• Experience building or improving contract templates, playbooks, and legal workflows.
• Knowledge of construction law or regulatory frameworks, or ability to develop it quickly.
• Strong drafting and negotiation skills with business-oriented judgment.
• Willingness to travel domestically and internationally as business needs require.

Responsibilities

• Draft, review, and negotiate a high volume of construction and commercial agreements (prime/subcontracts, MSAs, purchase orders, etc.).
• Advise on key risk terms: indemnification, insurance, liability limits, payment terms, change orders, and dispute resolution.
• Lead contract lifecycle management and improve templates, templates, and workflows; evaluate AI tools for efficiency.
• Counsel on bid terms, flow-down obligations, and contract close-out practices.
• Support claims avoidance, pre-litigation dispute management, and coordination with outside counsel.
