Job summary

Tutor Me Education is seeking a dedicated Special Education tutor to provide individualized general academic support to a 4th-grade student in a one-on-one, in-home setting in San Diego, CA. The role focuses on developing engagement and instructional strategies tailored to the child's needs.

Compensation is competitive, based on specialization ($25–$35/hour). The position totals 18 hours, with 1-hour sessions twice a week on Wednesdays and Fridays from 3:30pm onward.

Qualifications

• Prior experience working with students with special needs
• SPED experience strongly preferred
• Experience working with non-verbal students
• Familiarity with AAC devices
• Patient, energetic, and adaptable teaching style
• Strong behavior management and engagement skills

Responsibilities

• Provide general academic assistance aligned with 4th-grade curriculum
• Implement strategies to maintain focus and engagement during sessions
• Support learning using an AAC device
• Adapt instruction to meet the student’s individual learning and behavioral needs
• Manage occasional resistant behaviors with patience and positive reinforcement
• Create a calm, supportive, and structured learning environment
