Job summary

Bay Cove Human Services in Greater Boston is seeking a Skills Trainer to provide individualized home support for a person with developmental disabilities. You will implement activities to foster growth and work toward stated goals, both indoors and outdoors as needed.

Responsibilities include teaching daily living skills (safety, budgeting, cooking), providing supportive counseling, and documenting progress per Bay Cove standards.

Qualifications

• Understanding of the needs of adults and children with disabilities.
• Good writing and communication skills.
• Valid driver’s license.
• Must be at least 18 years old.
• Ability to work with adults and children with developmental disabilities in a manner that supports their stability, empowerment and growth.
• Sensitivity to confidentiality.

Responsibilities

• Implements program activities which will foster the individual’s growth, address treatment plan goals, and help them use developed skills.
• Teaches daily living skills such as safety rules, travel training, banking, cooking, shopping, budgeting, hygiene, and care of personal space and belongings.
• Provides supportive counseling to the individual around daily, personal, and social issues.
• Maintains programmatic documentation in accordance with Bay Cove standards.
• Maintains progress notes on individual.
