Job summary

Heartstrings Pet Hospice is seeking In-Home Hospice and Euthanasia Veterinarians to serve pet families across Gainesville, Newberry, Alachua, and surrounding Florida communities. This role offers professional autonomy, meaningful family interactions, and the chance to practice end-of-life veterinary care in the comfort of homes.

As a mobile veterinarian, you will deliver in-home hospice, palliative care, quality-of-life support, and compassionate euthanasia with empathy and clinical judgment,

Qualifications

• DVM or equivalent veterinary medical degree from an accredited program.
• Active veterinary license in the state(s) where services will be provided.
• Valid U.S. driver's license and ability to travel between appointments.
• Ability to work independently in a mobile veterinary setting.
• Strong empathy and professional communication during sensitive conversations.

Responsibilities

• Provide in-home hospice, palliative care, QoL support, and euthanasia within your service area.
• Travel between appointments and work in a mobile veterinary care environment.
• Perform exams, assessments, medications, sedation, euthanasia, and related services.
• Educate families on QoL decisions and aftercare options with empathy.
• Maintain accurate medical records and documentation.
• Collaborate with Heartstrings team and referring veterinarians.
• Handle and assist with movement of animals during appointments.
• Remain professional and reliable while working independently.
• Demonstrate Heartstrings' Compassion. Dignity. Respect in all interactions.
