Job summary

Heartstrings Pet Hospice is seeking a compassionate In-Home Hospice and Euthanasia Veterinarian to serve pet families across Sacramento, North Highlands, Roseville, and Orangevale. This role offers clinical autonomy and meaningful, home-based end-of-life care in a doctor-led practice.

You will travel to client homes, perform medical services, guide families through difficult conversations, and collaborate with a dedicated veterinary team to ensure compassionate care for every patient.

Qualifications

• Active veterinary license in the state(s) where services will be provided.
• Valid U.S. driver's license and ability to travel between appointments.
• Strong communication and empathy in sensitive pet hospice/end-of-life conversations.
• Availability for rotating weekend scheduling.
• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and travel to client homes.

Responsibilities

• Provide in-home hospice, palliative care, quality-of-life support, and compassionate euthanasia services.
• Travel to scheduled appointments and work in a mobile veterinary care environment.
• Perform examinations, clinical assessments, medication administration, sedation, euthanasia, and related veterinary services.
• Educate families on quality-of-life decisions, end-of-life options, and aftercare considerations.
• Maintain accurate medical records and professional documentation; communicate with the Heartstrings team.
