Job summary

Interim HealthCare Inc. is seeking a Home Health Aide to provide hands-on personal care to patients in their homes in the Birmingham area. You will report changes in patient conditions and assist with daily living activities as directed by the care plan.

Qualifications include 18+ years old, passing a home health aide knowledge exam, background checks, and strong English communication skills. Valid driver's license and auto liability insurance may be required for driving assignments.

Qualifications

• Evidence of passing a home health aide knowledge exam.
• Pass state required criminal and abuse background checks where required.
• Able to effectively communicate in English with all levels of the workforce, both clinical and non-clinical
• Able to read, write, and verbally report clinical information to patients, caregivers and agency staff.
• Able to perform and prioritize multiple tasks or functions.
• Able to provide proof of valid driver's license, if applicable.
• Able to provide proof of valid auto liability insurance if assignment includes driving own vehicle.

Responsibilities

• Reads and records temperature, pulse, and respirations.
• Assists with activities of daily living such as bathing, grooming, nail and skin care, oral hygiene, toileting and adequate nutrition.
• Promotes safe environment and maintains unobstructed pathways while providing care.
• Assists with ambulation, transfers and/or range of motion exercises.
• Assists with incidental/instrumental activities of daily living such as shopping, meal preparation, homemaking and maintaining a clean and safe environment.
• Assists in medication reminding and administration as ordinarily self-administered.
• Utilizes infection prevention and control measures per universal precautions.
• Follows the assignment sheet/service plan and reports changes to supervisor.
• Documents observations and services provided accurately and promptly.
• Organizes visits/shifts and tasks efficiently.
