Job summary

Lutheran Social Service of Minnesota is seeking an In-Home Direct Support Professional to provide guidance, support, and safety for individuals with disabilities in their homes or communities.

You will help develop and monitor individual plans, maintain documentation, attend trainings, and advocate for clients, with opportunities for professional growth and a $1,000 hiring bonus.

Qualifications

• Valid driver's license, acceptable driving record, and a Motor Vehicle Check.
• Background check completion.
• Medication administration training (successful completion).
• Computer and math skills.
• Ability to read, write, solve problems and follow directions.
• Good decision-making skills and emergency response ability.
• Ability to recognize boundaries and show patience, self-control and flexibility.
• CPR/First Aid certification preferred (may be obtained after hire).

Responsibilities

• Provide guidance, encouragement, support, comfort, security, and safety through relationship building and direct interaction to individuals with disabilities.
• Support individuals in their homes or community and assist in developing and monitoring their individual plans, hopes, and dreams.
• Help individuals develop essential living skills to increase independence.
• Maintain documentation and participate in periodic meetings/trainings as required by regulations.
• Demonstrate advocacy for clients as expected by LSS Minnesota staff.

Job Summary:

As an In-Home Direct Support Professional, you will provide guidance, encouragement, support, comfort, security, and safety through relationship building and direct interaction to individuals with disabilities. You will support individuals in their homes or within their community and assist in the development and monitoring of their individual plans, hopes, and dreams. You will support individuals in developing their essential living skills by maintaining/increasing their independence. You will be required to maintain documentation, perform record keeping, and participate in periodic meetings/trainings in accordance with regulations. Most importantly, you will need to have the advocacy skills that are expected of all staff that works for Lutheran Social Service of Minnesota (LSS).

Qualifications and Requirements:

• A valid driver's license, acceptable driving record, and a Motor Vehicle Check.
• Successfully meet the requirements of a background check.
• Successful completion of medication administration training.
• Computer and math skills.
• Able to read, write, solve problems, and accept/follow through with directions.
• Good decision-making skills and the ability to respond to any emergency situations that may arise.
• Able to recognize boundaries and exhibit patience, self-control, and flexibility.
• CPR/First Aid certification is preferred (may be obtained after hire).

• 40% FTE or greater
• Remain up to date on all trainings
• Maintain employment in good standing
