Job summary

The Arc of Bristol County in North Providence, RI is seeking a Direct Support Professional to provide one-on-one support to individuals with developmental and intellectual disabilities in community settings. You will help individuals achieve personal goals, build independent living skills, and participate in community activities.

The role requires a high school diploma or equivalent, 18+, a valid driver's license, and the ability to pass background checks.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Associates or Bachelor's Degree in Human Services or related field; one year experience preferred.
• At least 18 years of age.
• Valid driver's license, reliable transportation, proof of insurance and car registration.
• Ability to pass criminal background checks.

Responsibilities

• Provide one-on-one direct support and care to individuals with IDD in community settings.
• Use a person-centered approach to help individuals develop personal goals and independent living skills.
• Support individuals in building social connections and participating in community activities.
• Maintain regular communication with individuals, their families, and other staff.
• Document all services provided accurately and thoroughly.
• Create and maintain a community network to access resources.
• Provide compassionate care while respecting individuality and promoting independence.
