Job summary

Sears is seeking a Residential Appliance Service Technician to diagnose and repair refrigerators, washers, dryers, ovens, ranges and dishwashers in customers’ homes around the Richmond, VA area. You’ll triage calls, perform hands-on repairs, and explain options in plain language while delivering courteous, reliable service.

Ideal candidates have a high school diploma or equivalent, with technical appliance repair training, proven diagnostics experience, and strong communication skills.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent; technical/vocational training in appliance repair is a plus.
• Proven experience in appliance diagnostics and repair.
• Strong troubleshooting ability and sound problem-solving judgment.
• Top-tier communication and customer service skills.
• Self-directed with solid time management and organization.
• Working knowledge of safety standards and best practices for in-home repairs.

Responsibilities

• Triaging service calls and determining the best repair approach for each appliance.
• Perform hands-on repairs and preventive maintenance to restore peak performance.
• Explain issues and options to homeowners, and prepare cost estimates with approvals.
• Document work, parts used, and customer notes in service records.
• Source and track parts and follow up with customers to close visits.
• Apply safe work practices while working in customers’ homes.
• Stay current on new models, components, and repair techniques.
