Job summary

Porsche Penske Motorsport is seeking a qualified Systems Engineer to join our IMSA racing program in Mooresville, NC. The role focuses on supporting the electronic, data, control, and communication systems of the race cars while traveling with the team across events.

The engineer will work with race engineering and IT to ensure vehicle systems are configured, maintained, and supported at shop, test, and race venues. This position requires extensive IMSA travel.

Qualifications

• 2–3 years of experience in a systems engineering or data engineering role within professional motorsports.
• Experience programming, configuring, and troubleshooting data acquisition, control, and telemetry systems.
• Knowledge of CAN systems, including sensor setup, configuration, and CAN decoding.
• Experience designing, building, repairing, and maintaining motorsport wiring looms and harnesses.
• Experience with race radio and intercom systems, including programming, setup, troubleshooting, and maintenance.
• Ability to travel extensively throughout the IMSA season, including extended periods away from the home base.

Responsibilities

• Develop, setup, and integrate data, control, and electronic systems in race cars.
• Configure and troubleshoot data acquisition, control, and telemetry systems.
• Develop sensor calibration, validation, and maintenance processes.
• Assist with wiring loom layout, design, and documentation.
• Repair and maintain motorsport wiring looms and harnesses.
• Support hybrid and high-voltage systems including charging/storage.
• Complete required training for safe handling of high-voltage systems.
• Assist with radio and communication system setup, programming, troubleshooting, and maintenance.
• Collaborate with IT, race engineering, and partners during events.
• Travel with the race team to IMSA test and race events.
