Job summary

Sanford seeks an Improvement Advisor to organize and coordinate organization-wide performance improvement initiatives. You will oversee data-driven strategies, support leadership planning, and drive high-impact improvements in outcomes and patient safety.

Successful candidates have a Bachelor's (or equivalent) and 2+ years in healthcare process improvement, with Lean Six Sigma or CPHQ preferred. Some evenings/weekends may be required. Strong communication and data skills are essential.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree required; associate's degree + five years' experience may be considered.
  • Nursing degree preferred from a nationally accredited program.
  • Minimum of two years' experience in operational process improvement, healthcare management, or related field.
  • Lean Six Sigma Green Belt or CPHQ preferred.
  • RN license required if applicable; multi-state licensure acceptable in a Nurse Licensure Compact state.
  • Maintain department competencies and certifications; know regulatory requirements and confidentiality.
  • Occasional evening/weekend hours; potential for >40 hours when needed.

Overview

The Improvement Advisor works with leadership to organize, assist, and coordinate planning and implementation of systematic, organization-wide approaches that improve outcomes. The advisor supports corporate and local strategic plans that achieve high impact and significant improvements in organizational performance by overseeing performance improvement components and activities.

Responsibilities
  • Manage data and projects, applying analytical reasoning to interpret and evaluate complex information, identify patterns and essential issues, and measure and evaluate results.
  • Utilize and teach process improvement methodologies to support informed decision-making for operational efficiencies and effectiveness aligned with system strategies.
  • Serve as a communication link and resource person regarding performance improvement and patient safety for departments and management throughout the organization.
  • Analyze data to identify areas of opportunity for improvement efforts.
  • Write and verbally communicate clearly, demonstrate strong computer skills, and make independent and timely decisions when circumstances warrant.
  • Interact effectively with other health care professionals, physicians, upper-level management, regulatory agency staff, and the general public.
  • Maintain familiarity with basic tools of robust process improvement, work process redesign, and re-engineering, as well as medical terminology.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree required; Associate’s degree plus five years of applicable experience may be considered.
  • Preferred if degree is in nursing from a nationally accredited program.
  • Minimum of two years experience in operational process improvement, clinical, or healthcare management setting preferred.
  • Lean Six Sigma Green Belt or Certified Professional in Healthcare Quality (CPHQ) or equivalent preferred.
  • If a licensed registered nurse (RN) is applied, must hold an unencumbered RN license with the State Board of Nursing where the practice occurs; multistate licensure acceptable in a Nurse Licensure Compact state.
  • Maintain required department-specific competencies and certifications.
  • Knowledge of and compliance with regulatory requirements, contractual obligations, and organizational policies is essential, along with maintaining confidentiality of sensitive information.
  • Occasional evening and weekend hours, and potential for greater than 40-hour workweeks when circumstances warrant.
