About the Opportunity
We are seeking an experienced International Import/Export Agent to support the daily operations of our freight forwarding company in an in-office role based in Sterling, VA. This position is critical in supporting our government and commercial customers both domestically and abroad.
The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, dependable, and comfortable managing multiple priorities in a fast-paced logistics environment. You will serve as a key point of coordination across all stakeholders with key touchpoints of quoting, arranging, routing, tracking, costing, and rating shipments.

- Applying comprehensive operational expertise spanning international and domestic freight, HazMat/DG handling, ITAR-controlled movements, and other specialized or high-risk logistics requests
- Taking initiative and ownership, making decisions, being proactive, and working with cross-functional teams to optimize solutions for stakeholders
Qualifications
- Minimum of 3 years of proven experience in international ocean experience handling FCL and LCL shipments, working with overseas customers, agents, and carriers to coordinate movements of import and export container business (Required)
- Understanding of and experience with the various carrier networks that support international, domestic, and multi-modal transportation globally (Required)
- Experience working within a Transportation Management System (TMS) (Required)
- Ability to work on multiple stages of shipments at one time — you may be quoting loads, operating shipments, and billing past movements all in the same day
- Experience providing timely communications to customers in a professional manner, typically within hours if not minutes of key milestones
- close attention to detail, excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Proficient in MS Office Suite
- Breakbulk, out-of-gauge, RORO, or international air experience (Plus)
- Experience with hazmat, dangerous goods, or ITAR (Plus)
- Familiarity with shipping requirements for DOD, DOS, U.S. Government agencies, defense contractors, and related government programs (Plus)

What We Offer
- Salary of $60,000–$75,000, commensurate with experience
- Full-time, in-office position, Monday through Friday, standard business hours.
