Job summary

Performance Foodservice is seeking a buyer to negotiate import/international product purchases at competitive prices and maintain inventories to meet customer demand. You will work as part of the department and cross-functionally to support the company’s objectives.

Responsibilities include attaining desired profit margins, implementing cost-effective buying strategies, managing inventory, and liaising with vendors. A HS diploma and 1–2 years in purchasing are required.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma/GED or equivalent experience.
• 1–2 years Purchasing or related area.

Responsibilities

Position Summary

Responsible for negotiating the purchase of quality import/international products at competitive prices and maintaining adequate inventories to meet customer demand. Functions as a team member within the department and cross-functions, as required, and performs any duty assigned to best serve the company.

Position Responsibilities

• Attain targeted profit margins as determined by the company’s business goals. Maintain product costing and pricing and ensure accurate purchase orders.
• Effectively implement buying/purchasing strategies such that product is purchased in the most cost-effective and efficient manner.
• Manage inventory levels to the designated goal level.
• Consult with vendors regarding current orders and new import specialty items late orders, schedule deliveries and process related paperwork and documentation. Provide product and pricing information to sales staff. Investigate product quality complaints.
• Complete special projects, as needed.
• Performs other related duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications

Compensation

Range $70,900 - $101,300; bonus opportunity 20% of base salary
