Job summary

Mankiewicz Coatings LLC is seeking a motivated Material Planner to join our team in Charleston, SC. The role focuses on Import/Export operations and planning to support global supply chains and customer demand.

You will collaborate with Sales Customer Service, Global Material Planning, Global Purchasing, and external service and material suppliers to ensure compliant, timely shipments and optimized material flow.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent required; bachelor’s degree preferred.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication with internal and external customers.
  • Experience with SAP software preferred.
  • Experience with CIP, FMEA, etc. preferred.
  • Strong computer proficiency (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint).

Responsibilities

  • Import/Export responsibilities: manage global shipments, coordinate with sites, brokers, carriers, suppliers and customers, ensure compliance and accurate documentation.
  • Classify products, monitor clearance, resolve shipment or compliance issues, maintain trade records, support audits.
  • Plan and maintain production schedules to optimize capacity and delivery requirements.
  • Execute MRP for raw materials, intermediates, finished goods, and recertification activities.
  • Create and monitor purchase orders with stakeholders and suppliers.
  • Coordinate inbound overseas shipments and material deliveries to warehouses.
  • Maintain planning and material master data in SAP.
  • Monitor KPIs, analyze deviations, and implement corrective actions.
  • Collaborate with Sales, Customer Service, and Shipping to align production with demand and delivery commitments.

Mankiewicz Coatings LLC is growing, and we are looking for a motivated, detail-oriented, and reliable Material Planner to join our team who can also handle our import/export responsibilities. The Material Planner will collaborate closely with Sales Customer Service, Global Material Planning, Global Purchasing, and external service and material suppliers to ensure seamless supply chain operations and support customer demand.

Tasks/Activities:
Import/Export Responsibilities (50%)
  • Manage import and export operations to ensure timely, compliant, and cost-effective global shipments.
  • Coordinate with manufacturing sites, freight forwarders, customs brokers, carriers, suppliers, and customers to support international logistics.
  • Prepare and review import/export documentation and ensure compliance with customs regulations, trade laws, and hazardous materials shipping requirements.
  • Classify products, monitor customs clearance, and resolve shipment or compliance issues.
  • Maintain accurate trade records and support audits, reporting, and regulatory requirements.
  • Monitor changes in global trade regulations and implement process improvements to ensure ongoing compliance and operational efficiency.
  • Partner with Supply Chain, Regulatory, Customer Service, and Sales teams to support business objectives and customer satisfaction.
Planning Responsibilities (50%)
  • Develop and maintain production schedules to optimize capacity, batch sizes, and customer delivery requirements.
  • Execute Material Requirements Planning (MRP) for raw materials, intermediates, finished goods, and recertification activities while ensuring batch traceability.
  • Plan, create, schedule, and monitor purchase orders with internal stakeholders and external suppliers.
  • Coordinate inbound overseas shipments and material deliveries to warehouses.
  • Plan and replenish consumables required to support manufacturing operations.
  • Monitor inventory levels and maintain appropriate minimum and maximum stocking parameters.
  • Analyze inventory performance and drive improvements to reduce days on hand and minimize expired or obsolete materials.
  • Coordinate daily material availability to support uninterrupted production.
  • Maintain accurate planning and material master data within SAP.
  • Monitor planning and supply chain KPIs, identify deviations, perform root cause analysis, and communicate corrective actions.
  • Partner with Sales and Customer Service to align production plans with customer demand, priorities, and delivery commitments.
  • Collaborate with Shipping to ensure timely availability and movement of raw materials, intermediates, and finished goods.
  • Work closely with Quality Control, Colorimetry, and Quality Management to prioritize workflow and maintain compliance with company quality standards.
  • Coordinate with global material planning teams to support standardized planning processes and material prioritization.
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives through Lean manufacturing and 5S principles.
  • Drive performance improvements in on-time delivery, inventory management, material costs, purchasing efficiency, and overall production performance.
Job Requirements:
  • High school diploma or equivalent required. Bachelor’s degree preferred.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including ability to effectively communicate with internal and external customers
  • Experience with SAP software (preferred)
  • Experience with systems and procedures such as CIP, FMEA, etc preferred
  • Excellent computer proficiency (Microsoft Office – Word, Excel, Outlook and Powerpoint)
  • Must be able to work under pressure and meet deadlines while maintaining a positive attitude and providing exemplary customer service
