Job summary

Mankiewicz Coatings LLC is seeking a motivated R&D Chemist in Charleston, SC to lead development and modification of new coating products for market needs. You will conduct lab research, work on formulations, process optimization, and environmental/safety considerations, in collaboration with sales and customers.

Requirements include a Bachelor's in Chemistry (Master's preferred), 5+ years in coatings R&D, strong communication skills, and experience with SAP; proficiency in MS Office is

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry or related field; Master’s preferred.
  • 5+ years in R&D for coatings.
  • Strong verbal and written communication with customers.
  • Experience with SAP software.
  • Proficient in MS Office.

Responsibilities

  • Development and implementation of new products through laboratory and sales projects.
  • Product service and maintenance: formulation development and optimization; process optimization; applications engineering; environmental and safety considerations; efficiency optimization; defect batch correction and reprocessing; color shade creation.
  • Answer customer requests in coordination with supervisor and sales department.
  • Measure color samples.
  • Train staff and customers.
  • Maintain measurement instruments and standardize coloring.
  • Maintain and calibrate lab instruments; update technical data sheets; ensure EHS compliance.

Mankiewicz Coatings LLC is growing, and we are looking for a motivated, detail-oriented, innovation driven R&D Chemist to join our team to conduct research, focusing on development and modification of new products to meet the market needs with hands on materials and instruments.

Job Responsibilities
  • Development and implementation of new products through laboratory and sales projects.
  • Product service and maintenance regarding:
    • The optimisation and development of formulations
    • Process optimization
    • Applications engineering
    • The consideration of environmental and occupational safety aspects
    • Efficiency optimization
    • Support in the correction and reprocessing of defective batches
    • Creation of color shades
  • Answering of customer requests in coordination with the superior and the sales department.
  • Measurement of color samples.
  • Training of both staff members and customers.
  • Measurement of standardizing coloring.
  • Maintenance and calibration of measuring instruments.
  • General administrative tasks in the lab.
  • Initiate and review technical data sheets.
  • Initiate and follow up of necessary actions regarding EHS compliance.
  • Maintain compliance with all company policies and procedures.
  • Requires flexibility and understanding that this position may be required to perform duties outside the duties listed above in order to meet the mission and goals of Mankiewicz Coatings.
Job Requirements
  • Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry or other related field at minimum. Master’s degree preferred.
  • Minimum of 5 years experience in R&D in the coatings industry.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including ability to effectively communicate with internal and external customers.
  • Experience with SAP software (preferred).
  • Excellent computer proficiency (Microsoft Office – Word, Excel, Outlook and Powerpoint)
  • Must be able to work under pressure and meet deadlines while maintaining a positive attitude and providing exemplary customer service.
  • Ability to work independently and carry out assignments to completion within parameters of instructions given, prescribed routines and standard accepted practices.
