Job description

InLog International is building a next-generation B2B trade platform connecting US suppliers with international business customers in Asia-Pacific and beyond. We're scaling quickly to become a primary wholesale bridge between the US and Vietnam, backed by multi-year contracts and partners affiliated with major US retailers. This is a ground-floor opportunity on a founding team, where the systems and processes don't exist yet.

WHAT YOU DO

This role is not entry-level and not a generalist logistics job. We need someone who already lives and breathes customs and trade compliance and can own it from day one with minimal ramp-up. You'll report to the Head of Global Logistics and serve as the internal authority preventing delays and penalties as we scale volume fast.

Nothing here is fully built yet. Priorities will shift as new product lines, trade lanes, and volume come online. You'll need to figure out what's needed before someone tells you, and stay steady when the plan changes mid-week.

Key Responsibilities
  • Customs & Trade Compliance: Own end-to-end adherence to US export regulations (AES filing, classification) and Vietnamese import regulations (licensing, labeling, restricted goods). This is the core of the job, not an add-on.
  • Documentation Management: Own preparation, accuracy, and timeliness of all shipping documents, including commercial invoices, packing lists, Bills of Lading, Certificates of Origin, and licensing paperwork.
  • Regulatory Advisory: Serve as the internal subject matter expert, advising the Head of Global Logistics and Purchasing teams on compliance risks tied to new product lines and evolving trade policy.
  • Auditing & Risk Mitigation: Conduct regular audits of shipping files and compliance records. Proactively identify and resolve issues before they become customs holds, delays, or penalties.
  • Customs Broker & Partner Liaison: Work directly with customs brokers, freight forwarders, and trade compliance authorities to expedite clearance and resolve documentation queries.
  • System Integration: Support selection, implementation, and optimization of compliance modules within our inventory or freight management systems.
  • Process Building: Build and document SOPs for compliance and documentation tasks as you go, since none exist yet. Adapt them as the business changes.
WHAT YOU'VE DONE
  • 5+ years of direct, hands-on customs and trade compliance experience managing import/export documentation and regulatory filings for international cargo. This is a hard requirement, not a nice-to-have.
  • Deep working knowledge of US export regulations and Vietnamese import regulations, including HTS classification and licensing requirements. You can speak to specific rulings, holds, or classification calls you've made yourself.
  • A track record of thriving in ambiguity — you've worked somewhere without a fixed playbook and built the process as you went, rather than waiting for one to be handed to you.
  • Comfortable with shifting priorities. You can drop what you're doing, reprioritize, and pick it back up without losing accuracy or momentum.
  • Exceptional attention to detail, with a track record of minimizing documentation errors and shipment delays at scale.
  • Fluent with customs software, AMS/AES filings, and standard ERP/WMS systems.
  • Able to independently research and resolve complex compliance questions and customs holds without waiting for direction or escalating what you should be able to close yourself.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, comfortable translating complex regulations for non-compliance stakeholders (sales, purchasing).
  • Experience in a startup or early-stage environment where you built the function, not just ran one that already existed
  • Vietnamese import regulation experience specifically
  • Experience with alcohol, consumables, or other regulated product categories
WHAT YOU'LL GET
  • 401(k)
  • Competitive pay and high visibility within a foundational team
  • The opportunity to build the compliance function from the ground up and establish scalable SOPs
  • Direct involvement in the hyper-growth of a leading B2B e-commerce platform bridging the US and Vietnam
