Overview

The Import Customs Compliance Specialist will be responsible for various tasks to facilitate the timely, compliant importation of products into the U.S. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, HTS classification, import documentation, auditing, communication, and executing related processes/procedures to ensure Humanscale complies with all import regulations while exercising the highest standard of reasonable care. This is a fast-paced, high-volume environment.

Essential Functions

  1. Coordinate with customs broker to resolve questions and provide information at port arrival, including HTS, FTA eligibility, valuation verification, Tariff assessments, and AD/CVD applicability.
  2. Perform daily audits of Customs Entries.
  3. Compile documentation for drawback claims.
  4. Create weekly reports on product movement through US, Canadian, and Mexican borders.
  5. Generate recurring reports on US, Canadian, and Mexican Customs spend.
  6. Contribute ideas and suggestions to improve processes.
  7. Provide Planners and Management with applicable HTS and duty rates prior to import.
  8. Support departmental needs involving U.S. Customs, brokers, planners, management, etc.
  9. Perform additional duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • 1-3 years of experience in data analysis and Customs-related functions.
  • Knowledge of U.S., Canadian, and Mexican customs processes.
  • Attention to detail with precision in reporting.
  • Excellent verbal, written, and communication skills.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
  • Strong organizational, analytical, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to exercise independent judgment.
  • Ability to prioritize workload and multitask.
  • Strong problem-solving skills including root cause analysis.
  • Knowledge of products, procedures, and policies relevant to the role.
  • Ability to balance team and individual responsibilities, and to provide and receive feedback.
  • Capability to resolve conflicts and maintain confidentiality.
  • Excellent follow-through skills.

Computer Skills

  • Proficiency in MS Office, especially Excel, with strong numerical estimation skills.
