Job summary

Saab, Inc. is expanding its Trade Compliance function and seeking a proactive professional to build and run the U.S. import control framework.

You will author import policies, coordinate with sites, brokers, and forwarders, and ensure compliance across entry, HTS, and licensing processes. You will collaborate with the international affiliates to manage cross-border imports/exports, maintain documentation, and drive continuous improvement of procedures and SOPs.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in international business, supply chain, or related field with 3+ years in U.S. import/customs operations or import compliance, or a Master’s degree with 1+ year of experience.
• Experience with CBP entry, HTS classification, and broker coordination.
• Export control literacy to flag DSP-61, TIB, Carnet, or ITAR issues and escalate as needed.
• Experience writing or improving a procedure, playbook, or SharePoint/tracker used by others.
• Strong communication skills to clearly explain issues and requirements.

Responsibilities

• Construct, improve, and run the U.S. import control framework for Saab, Inc., including entry review and CBP inquiries.
• Build relationships with sites, brokers, and forwarders to ensure smooth handoffs.
• Draft and operationalize import policies and SOPs (clearance, TIB, Carnet, DSP-61, DFE).
• Engage with Saab’s international affiliates to coordinate imports/exports.
• Clear imports by reviewing entry packets and resolving classification, valuation, and document issues.
