Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in international business, supply chain, or a related field with 3+ years in U.S. import/customs operations or import compliance, or a Master’s degree with 1+ year of experience
  • Working knowledge of CBP entry, HTS classification, and how a broker files
  • Sufficient export control literacy to flag DSP-61, TIB, Carnet, or ITAR issues and elevate them
  • Experience writing or improving a procedure, playbook, or SharePoint/tracker that other people then used
  • Strong communication skills
  • Microsoft Excel proficiency
  • Comfort working in ACE or a GTM tool and internal systems and platforms
  • Must be a U.S. person
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a DoD security clearance may be required
  • May require access to export-controlled technical data
  • Must be a U.S. citizen, Permanent Resident (green card holder), or protected individual as defined by 8 U.S.C. 1324b(a)(3)
  • Must pass a pre-employment drug screen

Responsibilities

  • Construct, improve, and run Saab, Inc.’s U.S. import control framework, including entry review, exception handling, and CBP inquiries
  • Build relationships with site shipping, programs, brokers, and forwarders to manage compliant handoffs
  • Draft and operationalize import policies and SOPs covering clearance, TIB, Carnet, DSP-61, permanent import, DFE, broker engagement, and recordkeeping
  • Coordinate imports into and exports from the U.S. with international affiliates and other entities
  • Review import entry packets and resolve classification, valuation, origin, and document issues before broker filing
  • Assign and maintain HTS classifications and coordinate ECCN/USML questions with the export team
  • Administer Duty-Free Entry under HTSUS 9808.00.30, including PIEE contracts, DCMA certificates, and DFARS 252.225-7013 documentation
  • Manage TIBs, carnets, and ITAR temporary import authorizations, including DSP-61 licenses and exemptions, tracking, close-out, and retention
  • Support ACE imports, including Periodic Monthly Statement duty accuracy, protest flags, and payment authorization
  • Support customs bonds, NRI Canada, Powers of Attorney, and authorized-filer lists
  • Manage compliance aspects of broker and forwarder relationships and compliance KPIs
  • Approve International Shipping Requests and domestic tariff questionnaires as assigned
  • Maintain import and temporary import/export activity in a durable system of record such as OCR EASE or SharePoint
  • Use SharePoint and process-improvement skills to create repeatable site procedures
  • Assess sites against import requirements and address identified gaps
  • Travel domestically and possibly internationally 5%-10% annually
