Job description

Axe Compute is a high-performance bare-metal infrastructure provider delivering custom, high-throughput compute solutions to enterprise workloads. In our business, delivery is the product—and world-class hardware performance must be matched by flawless operational execution, financial handoff accuracy, and strict technical change control.

Position Overview

We are seeking a high-execution, technically grounded Implementation & Technical Operations Project Manager to own order delivery, operational handoffs, infrastructure change workflows, and billing enablement.

In addition to leading customer implementations and verifying exact delivery dates for Finance, you will serve as the operational backbone for technical change management—coordinating complex cluster upgrades, network maintenance, server inventory tracking, and cross-functional support projects alongside our NOC and Engineering teams.

Core Responsibilities
1. Order Delivery, Delivery Verification & Finance Handoff
  • Sales-to-Ops Handoff: Own the post-sale handoff, verifying technical order requirements (custom hardware builds, networking setups, IP allocations) immediately upon contract execution.
  • Vendor & Logistics Coordination: Partner with third-party data center operators, hardware suppliers, and internal engineering to orchestrate provisioning schedules, shipping logistics, and hot-swap/cold-spare staging.
  • Delivery Confirmation & Acceptance: Formally verify and document when services are fully provisioned, tested, and turned over to the client (verifying exact Service Commencement Dates).
  • Finance & Billing Alignment: Provide formal delivery sign-off documentation to Finance to trigger accurate billing cycles, ensure zero revenue leakage, and seamlessly tie operational completion to invoice activation.
2. Support Project Management & Technical Execution
  • Support PM: Act as the project lead for complex, multi-stage customer support requests, custom environment modifications, and escalated technical remediations.
  • Cluster Upgrades & Maintenance: Coordinate end-to- end planning and delivery for live cluster upgrades, GPU scale-outs, firmware updates, and scheduled hardware refreshes.
  • Network & Infrastructure Changes: Manage logistics, communication, and execution schedules for network topology shifts, rack re-cabling, and IP transit updates.
3. Change Management & Governance
  • Change Control Board (CAB): Establish and oversee formal Change Management protocols for all production maintenance, system upgrades, and network changes to protect customer SLAs.
  • Maintenance Windows & Notifications: Schedule maintenance windows, align engineering resources, and draft clear, professional technical advisories for impacted clients.
4. Asset & Inventory Tracking
  • Inventory Management: Maintain real-time tracking of data center hardware assets, chassis inventory, spare drive pools, switches, cabling, and hot-swap/cold-spare components across all facility locations.
  • Supply Chain Planning: Monitor buffer stock levels to ensure rapid replacement turnaround and prevent provisioning bottlenecks.
Key Qualifications
  • Experience: 3–5+ years of experience in Technical Project Management, Infrastructure Implementation, or Technical Operations within data centers, bare-metal hosting, or cloud environments.
  • Finance & Ops Alignment: Demonstrated experience managing delivery sign-offs, verifying customer acceptance, and hand-off processes with Finance/Billing teams.
  • Technical Breadth: Familiarity with data center hardware, cluster architectures, IPMI/BMC, rack provisioning, network change control, and maintenance protocols.
  • Process Mastery: Track record of establishing formal Change Management (CAB) workflows and tracking physical server/network inventory.
  • Tools & Systems: Proficiency in project management and ITSM tools (Jira, Confluence, Asana, ServiceNow) and asset/financial management software.
Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)
  • Time-to-Deliver (TTD): Days from contract execution to customer handoff/activation.
  • Billing Handoff Accuracy: 100% on-time delivery confirmation documentation provided to Finance to ensure billing starts on the exact day of activation.
  • Change Success Rate: Percentage of planned maintenance, cluster upgrades, and network changes executed without unscheduled downtime or SLA breaches.
  • Inventory Accuracy: 100% visibility and reconciliation of active, spare, and in-transit hardware assets.
