Job description

Axe Compute is seeking a Deployment Program Manager who can track multiple simultaneous GPU cluster deployments end to end, report progress to clients and internal stakeholders up to the executive team and Board, and proactively identify risks, bottlenecks, and dependencies across every workstream that has to come together to bring a cluster live. This role requires genuine fluency in the GPU cluster deployment lifecycle, not just generic project management.

ROLE AT A GLANCE

  • Mandate: Own program management for multiple concurrent GPU cluster deployments, from contract signature through customer go-live.
  • Scope: Multi-workstream project planning, cross-vendor coordination (OEMs, data center operators, network service providers), client and executive/Board reporting, risk and dependency management.
  • Key Outcomes: Predictable contract-to-go-live timelines across concurrent deployments, accurate and proactive risk identification, reporting that satisfies both client stakeholders and executive/Board audiences.

WHAT YOU WILL OWN

  • Build and maintain sophisticated, dependency-aware project plans covering every workstream in a deployment: OEM hardware manufacturing and shipment, data center build-out, cluster build-out and provisioning, and network service provider dependencies.
  • Track multiple concurrent deployments simultaneously, on a global scale, maintaining a clear view of status, risk, and critical path across all of them.

Client & Executive Reporting

  • Produce and deliver progress reporting to client stakeholders, translating technical status into terms relevant to their go-live planning.
  • Produce and deliver internal reporting to executive leadership and the Board, summarizing status, risk, and financial impact of deployment execution across the portfolio.
  • Proactively identify risks, issues, bottlenecks, and cross-workstream dependencies before they affect schedule or budget.
  • Own risk mitigation planning and escalation, coordinating the right stakeholders to resolve issues quickly.
  • Coordinate directly with OEM manufacturers on hardware orders and shipment timing, data center operators on build-out schedules, and network service providers on connectivity dependencies.
  • Work with the Lead GPU Cluster Solution Architect, Data Center Procurement and Operations Director, and Supply Chain to ensure every workstream is reflected accurately in the project plan.

Technical Fluency Across the Deployment Lifecycle

  • Maintain working knowledge of GPU architecture and the full set of components and phases that go into building a cluster from scratch: data center readiness, equipment delivery and installation, vendor coordination (MSPs, data center operators, OEMs), and acceptance testing cycles.
  • Use this fluency to ask the right questions, spot schedule risk early, and communicate credibly with technical stakeholders on all sides.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • 7+ years in program or project management for infrastructure, data center, telecom, or large-scale technology deployments, with direct experience managing multiple concurrent, complex projects.
  • Demonstrated understanding of GPU cluster architecture and the end-to-end deployment lifecycle (data center readiness, hardware delivery/installation, network turn-up, acceptance testing).
  • Experience coordinating directly with OEM manufacturers, data center operators, and network/connectivity vendors.
  • Experience producing reporting for both client-facing and executive/Board-facing audiences.
  • Strong tools proficiency (e.g., Smartsheet, MS Project, Jira, Confluence, Asana, or similar) for complex, multi-workstream project tracking.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • PMP certification or equivalent.
  • Prior experience at a neocloud, hyperscaler, or GPU infrastructure provider.
  • Familiarity with NVIDIA Reference Architecture and cluster acceptance testing standards.
