Carex is partnering with a fast-growing Behavioral Health EHR startup to hire an Implementation Specialist to lead EHR and revenue cycle management (RCM) implementations for healthcare organizations ranging from growing provider groups to large enterprise customers. This is a hands-on, customer-facing role where you'll own implementations from kickoff through go-live, translating clinical, operational, and billing workflows into system configuration. We're looking for someone with experience in healthcare technology implementations, a strong understanding of RCM processes, and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced startup environment. The ideal candidate is highly motivated, detail-oriented, and excited to take ownership while getting into the technical and operational details of each deployment.
Location: Hybrid in New York City, with periodic travel to customer sites.
What You'll Do
- Own multiple concurrent EHR and RCM implementations from contract signature through go-live and stabilization
- Serve as the primary implementation lead for customers, managing timelines, milestones, risks, and stakeholder communication
- Configure customer environments across clinical, operational, and revenue cycle workflows, including forms, templates, user roles, permissions, billing settings, and system workflows
- Partner with customer billing and revenue cycle teams to understand existing processes around insurance verification, eligibility, claims submission, denials, payment posting, and collections
- Translate customer payer contracts, billing requirements, and reimbursement workflows into accurate system configurations
- Lead implementation workshops across clinical, intake, scheduling, operations, billing, and revenue cycle teams
- Support configuration and validation of RCM workflows, ensuring billing processes function as expected prior to go-live
- Manage data migration, system validation, user acceptance testing, and go-live readiness activities
- Troubleshoot configuration issues, workflow gaps, and billing-related challenges throughout the implementation process
- Train administrators, super users, billing teams, and frontline staff on platform functionality and best practices
- Partner closely with Product and Engineering teams to identify gaps, drive solutions, and improve implementation processes
- Own internal communication and updates, keeping stakeholders informed and aligned throughout the implementation journey
What You'll Bring
- 2–5 years of experience in EHR implementation, healthcare technology implementation, RCM technology, healthcare consulting, or a similar client-facing role
- Experience implementing EHR, practice management, revenue cycle management, or other complex healthcare software platforms
- Working knowledge of healthcare revenue cycle workflows, including claims, eligibility, billing, payer requirements, denials, and/or payment posting
- Hands-on system configuration experience — not solely project management — including workflows, templates, permissions, billing settings, user roles, and operational configurations
- Experience gathering customer requirements and translating clinical, operational, or financial workflows into system design and configuration
- Ability to work directly with billing and revenue cycle stakeholders to understand processes, identify gaps, and develop solutions
- Exposure to enterprise implementations or complex customer environments with multiple stakeholder groups
- Comfort managing client expectations, defining roles and responsibilities, and balancing multiple priorities across concurrent accounts
- Strong problem-solving skills and a willingness to get into the details to understand workflows, troubleshoot issues, and drive solutions
- Highly motivated, adaptable, low-ego, and comfortable operating with significant ownership in a fast-paced startup environment
Nice to Have
- Behavioral health experience, particularly with behavioral health billing and reimbursement workflows
- Experience configuring billing or RCM modules within an EHR or practice management system
- Familiarity with payer contracts, fee schedules, CPT/HCPCS codes, claim edits, and reimbursement rules
- Experience with electronic claims submission, clearinghouses, EDI transactions, and eligibility verification
- Experience migrating customers from legacy EHR or practice management systems
- Experience supporting revenue cycle testing, billing validation, or financial workflow readiness during implementations
