Job summary

SOPHiA GENETICS is seeking an Implementation Scientist to guide customers through the successful deployment of our genomic analysis platform. You will plan, configure, train, and drive adoption within the MaxCare framework, collaborating with implementation, field applications, technical, and commercial teams.

You will coordinate with clients across the US, translating lab and data requirements into practical solutions while managing timelines and delivering a consistent, high-impact customer

Qualifications

• BSc, MSc or PhD in Genetics, Molecular Biology, Oncology or similar.
• Direct experience with Next-Generation Sequencing, library preparation, bioinformatics and related consumables/products.
• Logical, process-focused, and detail-oriented with ability to manage MaxCare Program timelines.
• Excellent communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills are required.
• Experience in Commercial Technical support roles in Genomics (e.g., Field Applications Scientist or similar) is valuable.
• Strong project management skills with ability to coordinate diverse stakeholders.

Responsibilities

• Lead customers through successful implementation of SOPHiA GENETICS solutions from planning to adoption via MaxCare Program.
• Work cross-functionally to ensure seamless project execution, integration, and adoption of the genomic analysis platform.
• Draft Statements of Work in collaboration with technical and sales teams and manage project schedules and timelines.
• Provide onboarding and technical training across the requested NGS workflow for customers.
• Translate wet-lab, bioinformatics, data, and clinical requirements into concrete implementation decisions.

This is a field-based role supporting customers across the US. You will spend your time working from your home office, collaborating across time zones, or travelling for customer meetings. Travel is expected around 30%. We are particularly interested in candidates based in the Central or Western US timezones for this role.

Your Mission

As an Implementation Scientist, you will lead customers through the successful implementation of SOPHiA GENETICS solutions, from initial planning and sample selection through configuration, training, and adoption via our MaxCare Program methodology. You will work cross‑functionally to ensure seamless project execution, integration, and adoption of our genomic analysis platform and tools.

Reporting to the Senior Manager, Implementation Services you will work closely with customers and colleagues across implementation, field applications, technical, and commercial teams.

The value add

• Partner with technical and Sales colleagues to understand customer requirements and draft a Statement of Work (SOW)
• Project manage all activities leading to successful execution of a MaxCare Program, including creation of schedules and timelines, defining sampling strategies and supporting customers through issue resolution
• Provide all onboarding support & technical training throughout the customer‑defined NGS workflow
• Translate wet‑lab, bioinformatics, data, and clinical requirements into practical implementation decisions and effective customer solutions.
• Support selected technical setup activities, such as custom reporting and federated SSO authentication, while partnering with specialist technical teams on more complex needs.
• Build trusted relationships with sophisticated customer accounts and collaborate across regional and global teams to deliver a consistent customer experience.
• Drive customer engagement primarily through remote/virtual interactions and structured project management, rather than on‑site or hands‑on wet‑lab work.

Requirements

Your Background

• BSc, MSc or PhD in a relevant field such as Genetics, Molecular Biology, Oncology or similar
• Direct experience with Next-Generation Sequencing, library preparation, bioinformatics, and related consumables and products is critical
• You will be logical, process‑focused, and detail‑orientated, capable of building, defining and upholding MaxCare Program timelines
• Excellent communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills are required
• Previous working knowledge in a Commercial Technical support role linked to Genomics, including Field Applications Scientist, Clinical Application Consultant, Technical Specialist/Advisor or Subject Matter Expert within a Clinical Diagnostics, Biotech or Medical environment is highly valuable
• The ideal candidate will possess strong project management skills, with a proven ability to coordinate effectively and communicate with a diverse group of internal and external stakeholders
