Job summary

Friends of the Children – Utah is seeking a dedicated Professional Mentor to work intensively with eight children, building trusting, long-term relationships that support academic, social, and personal growth. You will set goals, provide mentorship, and document progress within a trauma-informed framework.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree preferred; combination of relevant education and professional experience considered.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and sustain long-term, caring relationships with eight children.
  • Spend 3–4 hours weekly with each youth in home, school, and community.
  • Set goals with youth and caregivers and develop plans to meet them.
  • Teach life and academic skills and promote healthy habits.
  • Provide enrichment resources and promote cultural awareness.
  • Support behavioral, emotional, and prosocial development.
  • Advocate for additional resources and navigate systems to aid academic success.
  • Complete documentation and participate in evaluation processes.
  • Work a full-time non-traditional schedule including afternoons, evenings, and some weekends.
  • Manage allocated budget and perform administrative tasks.
