Job summary

Friends of the Children - Utah is a nonprofit organization dedicated to empowering youth through sustained mentorship. This full-time role places a Friend with eight children, building trusting relationships and guiding academic and life skills over a 12+ year horizon.

You will spend 3–4 hours weekly with each child, collaborate with families, and document progress while navigating community resources. A commitment of three years is expected with nontraditional hours and local travel as needed.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree preferred; combination of education and experience considered.
• At least 2 years of experience with children and families; mentoring preferred.
• Willingness to commit for a minimum of three years.
• Must pass background check and Motor Vehicle Record; valid driver’s license with clean record.
• Have a safe, reliable personal vehicle for driving to work locations.

Responsibilities

• Develop and sustain long-term, caring relationships with eight children.
• Spend 3–4 hours weekly with each child in various settings.
• Set goals with youth and caregivers and support development of strengths and abilities.
• Teach life and academic skills; provide enrichment activities.
• Document interactions and participate in evaluations.
• Work nontraditional hours including afternoons, evenings and some weekends.
