Job summary

Friends of the Children - Central Oregon is seeking a dedicated Friend to work intensively with eight children in a one-on-one mentoring role. You will build trusting relationships, set positive expectations, and document activities to monitor progress and outcomes.

It is essential to partner with families, manage flexible hours including afternoons/evenings, and maintain a safe driving record for transporting youth as needed. Equal opportunity employer, dedicated to youth empowerment.

Qualifications

• Experience working with K-2nd grade youth.
• Ability to partner with caregivers to support families.
• Ability to build trusting relationships with children and families.

Responsibilities

• Develop and sustain a long-term, caring relationship with each child.
• Spend time with children one-on-one.
• Partner with parents/caregivers to provide supports for the family.
• Set realistic expectations based on each child’s strengths.
• Teach life skills and help develop talents for each child.
• Maintain documentation and participate in evaluation processes.
• Maintain a 40-hour work schedule including afternoons, evenings, and weekends.
