Job summary

WIC Lake County is hiring a Degreed Nutritionist to provide nutrition counseling to WIC participants in Lake County, CA, traveling to clinic sites as needed. This part-time role emphasizes compliance with state and federal requirements and delivering staff trainings on nutrition.

Responsibilities cover client services, nutrition education, breastfeeding support, and collaboration with health professionals to promote healthy eating for families served by WIC.

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science in Nutrition and Dietetics or related field.
• Two years of experience in community nutrition including services to pregnant, breastfeeding, postpartum women and children 0-5 years.
• Shall complete 50 continuing education units that are equivalent to those allowable for and RD or DTR.
• Bilingual English/Spanish and/or other language ability based on program needs preferred.

Responsibilities

• Assesses initial participant information, screens for eligibility, creates a file, schedules appointments, assesses paperwork for completeness, issues benefits, and educates participants on the appropriate foods package.
• Collects and evaluates anthropometric, biochemical, clinical, and dietary data to determine nutrition and/or health risks.
• Travels to satellite WIC clinics to provide full scope of WIC services to eligible Lake County residents.
