Job summary

The State of Missouri is seeking a lead public health data technician to manage high-volume vital records workflows with speed, accuracy, and strong customer service. This on-site role focuses on data entry, verification, amendments, and issuing certified copies in compliance with state laws and regulations.

Candidates should have 1–3 years of relevant data experience, proficiency with Microsoft Office and Access, and the ability to multitask across teams while maintaining confidentiality.

Qualifications

• One (1) to three (3) years of experience processing technical, medical, legal, or other confidential data; high school diploma or equivalent.
• Operate in a fast-paced, confidential environment requiring high focus and multitasking.
• Excel in customer service with internal and external customers; proficient with Microsoft Office suite.
• Work in a multi-team environment requiring emotional intelligence and professional demeanor.

Responsibilities

• Responds to routine inquiries via call center, mail, email, and in-person requests from agency officials, courts, medical professionals, law enforcement, and the public related to vital records.
• Retrieves vital records and processes health and medical data, forms, and legal documents.
• Makes amendments to vital records; reviews reports for missing or inconsistent information; obtains information to ensure data completeness.
• Prepares and issues copies of birth, death, fetal death, adoption, marriage, and divorce records; accepts fees and balances cash.
• Prepares other correspondence to send out as requested.
