Job summary

Michigan Association of School Boards seeks a full-time Teacher for Success Virtual Learning Centers of Michigan to deliver and monitor high-quality virtual instruction statewide while maintaining a presence at the instructional center. You will report to the Center Director and work within an 185-day contract with potential extended hours and summer sessions.

Requirements include Michigan teaching certification, strong English skills, and experience with online instruction.

Qualifications

• State of Michigan Secondary Education Teacher certification is required.
• Ability to motivate all students to be successful in coursework.
• Ability to develop meaningful relationships with students to foster success.
• Strong customer service leadership for students, families, and community members.
• Understand and effectively utilize technology in instructional and operational settings.
• Self-direction to initiate and complete tasks timely.
• Excellent English and grammar skills, proofreading, oral and written communications.
• Online teaching experience is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Adapt teaching strategies to accommodate diverse learning styles in a virtual environment.
• Contribute to ongoing modifications and improvements to course materials while upholding standards.
• Collaborate through professional learning communities (PLCs) with teammates statewide.
• Monitor data to engage students and meet district goals and standards.
• Grade all student assignments within the grading policy; some work may occur outside normal hours.
• Mentor and support students via learning management system and online/in-person communication.
• Document weekly communication with students and families.
• Implement student behavior plans and academic interventions as needed.
• Participate in center duties and student orientations; assist enrollment and event planning.
• Engage in professional development and travel as district expenses permit.
