Job summary

Chesterfield County in Virginia is seeking a part-time Victim Services Program Case Manager to provide direct services to crime victims and witnesses, including information, referrals and assistance as required by law. The incumbent operates under the Victim Services Program Director and reports to the Commonwealth’s Attorney.

Qualifications include a bachelor’s degree in criminal justice, human services or related field and at least two years of experience in counseling, social work or crisis

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in a criminal justice, human services or related field.
• Two years of experience in counseling, social work or crisis intervention; or an equivalent combination of training and experience.
• Previous experience at a Victim Witness office is highly desirable.

Responsibilities

• Provides referrals to specialized counseling or social services
• Provides information and direction in applying for services available to crime victims
• Provides information regarding victim / witness issues during court proceedings
• Aides in facilitate notice of judicial proceedings, prisoner status and assistance in obtaining restitution documentation in criminal cases
• Coordinates court appearances with employers/schools, obtaining advance notice of court proceedings
• Assist in obtaining services on an interpreter
• Assist in preparation of Victim Impact Statements
• Provides notification of proceedings or dispositions involving charged parties
• Performs necessary community outreach and engages in training
• Performs other tasks as required or necessary by need or demand
