Job summary

CoreCivic in San Diego seeks a Treatment Counselor to support our Community Corrections residential program. You will interview and assess participants, develop treatment plans, and deliver individual and group counseling under partner agency guidelines.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• At least three years of full-time counseling experience with a criminal justice population in a substance use disorder program.
• Must obtain AOD Counselor Certification within six months of hire.
• Valid driver’s license required.

Responsibilities

• Interviews and assesses prospective program participants and gathers data using screening/assessment instruments.
• Facilitates individual and group treatment interventions under partner agency guidelines and state regulations.
• Promotes engagement in treatment and supports coping skills; plans participant incentives as needed.
• Maintains confidentiality of clinical files and documentation according to protocols and laws.
• Documents and tracks treatment plans and progress; reviews status to verify completion of programs.
• Prepares evaluation/transition plans five days prior to release from the program.
