Stony Brook Medicine seeks a Functional Therapeutic Activities Specialist Float to plan and conduct therapeutic activities for patient groups, promoting functional independence and well-being. You will lead life-skills groups and collaborate with the treatment team to tailor programs to patient needs.

The role requires crisis prevention experience, strong communication, and willingness to travel for PMCS education and training. Excellent teamwork across units is essential.

Competenze

• Bachelor’s Degree in a functional therapeutic activities area from an accredited college.
• One year of full-time experience planning and administering a therapeutic program in a hospital or health-care setting.
• PMCS or similar crisis prevention training.

Mansioni

• Plan and conduct activities for client/patient groups to improve mental, physical, and social well-being.
• Lead life skills training groups and leisure activities as part of treatment teams.
• Monitor and evaluate patient response to activities and inform the treatment team.
• Prepare spaces for safety and therapeutic value; supervise adjunct staff when needed.
• Collaborate with nursing, social work and therapy staff to provide comprehensive care.
• Document attendance and patient progress; share relevant information with other departments.
• Participate in Crisis Prevention Team rotations and PMCS trainings; may train others.
• Apply verbal de-escalation and, when needed, physical intervention techniques.

Formazione

Bachelor’s Degree in Recreational Therapy / Art Therapy / Music Therapy or related field
