Harris County Juvenile Probation Department seeks a full-time teacher to impact student growth in a structured classroom setting. The role focuses on delivering engaging STAAR-aligned instruction across multiple grades and subjects while fostering a supportive, therapeutic learning environment.

The position requires a valid Texas teaching certification and a willingness to work with at-risk youth, with regular hours 7:30 A.M. to 3:30 P.M. Monday through Friday in a school setting.

Qualifications

• Valid Texas teaching certification in Mathematics, Physical Sciences, Social Studies, or related subject area.
• Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university and one (1) year of full-time teaching experience in an Accredited K-12 school working in grades six (6) or higher.
• Bachelor's degree with at least twenty-four (24) college credit hours in Math, Physical Sciences, or Social Studies; and at least one (1) year of full-time paid experience working with at-risk youth.

Responsabilités

• Develops and implements lesson plans with necessary accommodations that fulfil the requirements of the district's curriculum program, based on STAAR, for multiple grades and subjects.
• Maintains accurate student grades, work, and documentation related to special populations
• Creates a classroom environment conducive to learning and appropriate for the physical, social and emotional development of students
• Works cooperatively with special education teachers to modify curriculum as needed for special education students according to guidelines established in Individual Education Plans (IEP)
• Performs other duties as assigned
