As a substitute teacher, you will provide instruction in the absence of the classroom teacher, encourage student progress, maintain safety, and coordinate with the absent teacher to align with lesson plans and pacing.

Qualifications

• A 2-year degree or higher is preferred.
• Must have completed or be able to complete "Effective Substitute Teacher Training" unless applicant is a licensed educator
• Must have a positive attitude.
• Must be able to implement lesson plans in a variety of subject/grade level areas
• Must be a team player and adhere to all Board of Education policies

Responsibilities

• In the absence of the classroom teacher, the substitute teacher provides instruction, encourages student progress, maintains safety, and manages the learning environment.
• The substitute teacher is responsible for communication with the classroom teacher who is absent in order to implement lesson plans consistent with the teacher’s pacing for their classroom.
