Job summary

Arlington High School is seeking a Long Term Substitute Instructional Support Paraprofessional to begin November 2, 2026, covering for a leave for 12 weeks. The role is based at Arlington High School - Harbor/Shortstop program, supporting students with medical and mental health needs and assisting with class transitions.

The incumbent will monitor progress, tutor as needed, collaborate with teachers and social workers, and help students return to regular classes when emotionally ready, while

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree preferred.
• Experience working with adolescents with a variety of needs.

Responsibilities

• Monitor academic progress of assigned students in the Harbor/Shortstop program.
• Assist students in returning to regular classes as soon as emotionally ready.
• Maintain contact with classroom teachers regarding students’ academic standing and gather coursework as needed.
• Tutor students in coursework or coordinate with teachers for help.
• Communicate with hospital tutors and outside tutors as needed.
• Collaborate with school staff including the social worker and other program staff.
• Maintain open communication with the Intervention Coordinator/Social Worker and other staff.
• Attend Student Support Team, re-entry and other meetings as they apply to caseload.
• Update attendance boards and log attendance in Powerschool.
• Refer to social workers, nurses, deans, guidance or other staff for crisis evaluation or support.
• Manage room and milieu of the program and assist students with coping skills.
