Job summary

We are seeking a Design Engineer to join Bennett & Pless Inc in the Dallas area. The role focuses on designing structural systems for diverse construction types and industries, collaborating with Project Managers and Engineers of Record, and ensuring code compliance throughout the project lifecycle.

The position requires a Civil Engineering degree and 2–7 years of structural experience, with Proficiency in Revit/AutoCAD and EIT preferred.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering with 2-7 years of structural engineering experience preferred; Master’s degree in Civil Engineering or Structural Engineering is a plus.
• Proficient knowledge and experience using Revit and/or AutoCAD
• EIT preferred.

Responsibilities

• Work directly with Project Manager/Engineer of Record in the development of project design, calculations, and developing assessment reports
• Performs analysis of existing structures
• Develop drawings or specifications for use during construction and ensures all projects comply with applicable codes and regulations
• Assists in project coordination and meetings with the internal and external team members
• Reviews project submittals and shop drawings
• Visits projects during construction to learn construction practices and to provide on-site construction observation
• Organizes field data to facilitate analysis and problem solving
• Interacts with higher level engineers and design technicians
• Attends client, architect, and contractor meetings
• Learns to engage with potential clients to expand business relationships
• Performs calculations per design specifications and industry standards
• Utilizes Structural Design Software, such as RAM Structural Systems, ETABS, SAFE, SAP, RAM Elements, and TEKLA
• Shares information across all disciplines to confirm deliverables are compliant with client expectations and established quality standards
