Job summary

Genesee Lake School in Oconomowoc, WI is seeking a Special Education Teacher to design student-centered lessons, advocate for learners, and foster independence in small-class settings that average 6–9 students.

You will serve as Case Manager, lead IEP meetings, supervise classroom aides, and collaborate with clinical and behavioral teams to implement FBAs and BIPs, while pursuing ongoing professional growth and teamwork with an dedicated staff.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Special Education, Elementary/Secondary Education, Human Services, or a related field (or anticipated graduation date).
• State Teaching Certification in Special Education (or eligible for alternative/provisional licensure).
• Strong communication, empathy, team leadership, and a commitment to trauma-informed, student-centered care.
• Growth-oriented, adaptable, and eager to collaborate across multidisciplinary teams.

Responsibilities

• Design and deliver student-centered lessons using thematic units to build confidence, independence and a strong sense of self-worth.
• Serve as Case Manager for your caseload, facilitating IEP meetings and tracking progress.
• Lead and direct your classroom support team—including ESPs/DSPs—creating a unified learning environment.
• Collaborate with clinical, behavioral, and interdisciplinary teams to implement FBAs and BIPs.
• Adapt teaching strategies to meet evolving student needs using agency-approved care and intervention techniques.
