Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Assist teacher in maintaining a safe, secure, learning environment.
• Assist teacher in implementation of behavior intervention plan and IEP goals.
• Help manage behavior of students, including in crisis situations.
• Assume responsibility for learning and adapting to each student’s needs.
• Supervise students inside and outside the classroom, including lunchroom, bus, and playground duty.
• Keep teacher informed of special needs or problems of individual students.
• Assist students with physical needs and personal care, including feeding and hygiene.
• Prepare instructional materials and classroom displays.
• Maintain a neat and orderly classroom.
• Assist with inventory and maintenance of equipment.
• Assist teacher with administrative records and reports.
• Provide orientation and assistance to substitute teachers.
• Maintain confidentiality.
• Participate in staff development and meetings.
