Job summary

Hampton Academy in Lumberton, NJ, seeks a Health and Physical Education Teacher to support students with disabilities from Kindergarten through 12th grade. The role runs Monday–Friday, 8:00 AM–4:00 PM, focusing on individualized instruction and collaborative planning.

Responsibilities include adapting lessons to IEPs, using varied assessment tools, and maintaining pupil progress records while engaging families and coordinating with staff for optimal student outcomes.

Qualifications

• New Jersey Certification in Health and Physical Education.
• One to three years' experience working with special needs children at the middle/high school level.

Responsibilities

• Modifies and provides instruction to classified pupils in accordance with each pupil's Individualized Education Plan.
• Develops lesson plans and instructional materials and provides individualized and small group instruction to meet the needs of each pupil.
• Sets specific objectives in lesson preparation and weekly lesson plans and carries through presentation to effectively achieve these objectives.
• Devises written and oral assignments and tests that require analytical and critical thinking as well as the reproduction of facts.
• Uses a variety of assessment tools to develop lessons objectives and teaching strategies; integrates technology into classroom practice to support instruction.
• Works cooperatively with other Academy staff to coordinate instructional activities and monitor progress.
• Maintains records of pupil's educational progress and summarizes these marks for reporting purposes.
• Establishes and maintains standards of pupil behavior to achieve a conducive learning environment; updates daily data for Behavior Management Plan.
• Communicates with parents through conferences, telephone, email, and other means to inform them about the school program and pupil progress.
• Participates in school-level planning, faculty meetings, and professional learning communities.
