Richmond City Public Schools at Chimborazo Elementary in Richmond, VA seeks an Exceptional Education Teacher - General Curriculum (K-12). This 200-day, exempt position provides specially designed instruction and oversees IEP development to help students access the general curriculum.

The role requires collaboration with general education teachers, parents, and specialists; data-driven progress monitoring; and strong communication and organizational skills.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Special Education or related field.
• Virginia teaching license with endorsement in Special Education - General Curriculum K-12.
• Strong organizational and problem-solving skills.
• Excellent written and oral communication skills.
• Experience developing, implementing, and monitoring IEPs in compliance with IDEA and Virginia regulations.

Responsabilités

• Plan and provide Specially Designed Instruction for students with disabilities.
• Modify the general education curriculum to meet diverse needs using varied instructional techniques and assistive tech.
• Lead eligibility meetings for students suspected of having a disability.
• Develop and monitor IEPs with parents and educators.
• Collect and analyze data to track progress toward IEP goals.
• Maintain student records and prepare required reports.
• Communicate with families about progress and collaboration.
• Work with a team of professionals to support students.
