Job summary

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree is required; master’s degree is preferred.
• New York State Certification for Students with Disabilities (birth-grade 2) and (grades 1-6) is required.
• Clearance for fingerprint and criminal background check.

Responsibilities

• Develops IEP goals and tracks progress toward meeting these.
• Creates academically rigorous, standards-based, culturally relevant lesson plans.
• Coplans and co-teaches with general education teachers.
• Analyzes data from ongoing formative and summative assessments to refine instructional practices.
• Maintains strong classroom management and a safe, caring environment.
• Establishes a classroom culture of caring, respect and high expectations.
• Communicates progress with families using online portals and report cards.
• Participates in professional development and PLCs.
