Job summary

Gersh Autism Academy in Bronx, NY seeks a dedicated Special Education Teacher to lead in-school instruction and communicate daily with families about student progress.

The role requires implementing IEP goals, coordinating with CSE/IEP, and using ABA strategies; you will prepare lessons and materials in a 12-month school program, with ongoing collaboration and professional development.

Qualifications

• Required: Bachelor's degree in education or related field; Master’s preferred; professional certification may be required
• New York Teaching Certification
• Experience with ADHD, LD, HFA and related disabilities preferred
• ABA (Applied Behavioral Analysis) experience preferred
• Experience in assessment and report writing preferred

Responsibilities

• Lead instructional programs to drive student achievement in-school.
• Communicate with parents/caregivers regarding child participation.
• Use digital platforms and tools for instruction.
• Develop lessons aligned to each student’s IEP goals.
• Document attendance, lesson objectives and outcomes.
• Participate in CSE/IEP meetings and update goals as needed.
• Coach families to support daily learning.
• Prepare resources and materials for lessons.
• Monitor student participation and progress.
• Report daily progress to supervisor/BCBA.
