Job summary

Tacoma Public Schools is seeking a qualified Special Education teacher to join our district. The role requires a valid Washington State teaching certificate and a Special Education endorsement.

The position is a 1.0 FTE with 7.5 hours per day, at 182 workdays per year, with benefits as provided by the district. Salary ranges from $75,462 to $147,998 based on preparation and experience, with the start date as soon as possible.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree and valid teaching credential with endorsement for Special Education.
• Background clearance: fingerprints and background checks per district policy.
• Strong classroom management and communication skills are required.

Responsibilities

• Plan and provide instruction designed to meet diverse student needs and enhance intellectual growth.
• Assess student progress and provide grades and reports; refer for evaluation as needed.
• Support district goals and policies, and contribute to program development and collaboration.
• Prepare lesson plans and differentiate instruction to support learners at various levels.
• Communicate with students, parents, and colleagues to share progress and expectations.
• Maintain records as required by law and district regulations.
