Job summary

Mead School District – Northwood Middle School in Spokane, WA is seeking a Paraeducator to support students in Special Education and general education supervision. The role follows a Monday–Friday schedule of 6.5 hours per day, with start date immediate.

The Paraeducator provides instructional, behavioral, and social-emotional support, assists teachers, collects data, and helps implement IEP plans while maintaining safety and a positive classroom environment.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Current first aid/CPR certification or willingness to obtain promptly.
• Para educators shall be highly qualified upon hire as defined by state law.
• Completed at least 2 years of college study (72 quarter credits/48 semester credits) at an accredited college or university.
• Obtained an associate degree or higher.
• Completed and passed ETS ParaPro Praxis assessment (qualifying score 455) or Master Teacher Assessments (65%).
• Completed and passed Pearson Paraprofessional assessment (qualifying score).
• Completed an apprenticeship as a paraeducator in a registered program.

Responsibilities

• Support students with instructional, behavioral, and social-emotional needs.
• Assist teachers in small or large groups and in classroom tasks.
• Follow plans and procedures set by staff and administrators.
• Maintain safety, decorum, and order in common areas.
• Document data and assist with IEP-related information.
• Collaborate with Special Education and general education staff.
