Job summary

Bradley County Schools is seeking a Special Education Assistant (Paraprofessional) for part-time interim role at North Lee Elementary. You will support a self-contained classroom under the direction of the Special Education Teacher, assisting with instructional activities and student personal care as needed.

Responsibilities include behavior support, mobility assistance, record-keeping, and collaboration with staff to promote social and academic growth for students with disabilities.

Qualifications

• Provide support and paraprofessional work assisting classroom teachers or other professionals to achieve instructional objectives.
• Assist students with disabilities in achieving established goals and with personal care and mobility, as needed.
• Must be Highly Qualified: Praxis for Para-Professionals or college coursework transcripts.

Responsibilities

• Assist classroom teacher in performing specific duties as assigned or undertaking specialized tasks to achieve and enhance instructional and behavioral objectives.
• Work with individuals, small groups, or large groups as assigned by the teacher.
• Assist with behavior modification as assigned by leader.
• Lift, move, and operate adaptive equipment.
• Assist students with personal care tasks as needed.
• Escort students as assigned by teacher or administrator.
• Assist students with mobility needs such as lifting and positioning, transporting students in and around the school.
• Monitor students to maintain safe learning environment.
• Provide programmed practice activities and repetitions as developed by teacher or therapist.
• Report student concerns to teacher and assist with student resolution.
• Assist with breakfast, lunch, snack, including clean-up.
