Job summary

School District 27J is seeking a Special Education Paraprofessional to provide direct academic and behavioral support for students with severe disabilities in elementary settings. Work includes instructional support, life skills training, and personal care as delegated by the School Nurse.

The position is part-time, 4.0 hours per day, Tuesday through Friday, on a 9-month schedule with no benefits. Requires high school diploma and ability to lift up to 100 pounds; CPR/First Aid preferred or

Qualifications

• Ability to read and interpret documents such as IEPs and behavior plans.
• Ability to collect data and write routine reports.
• Ability to apply basic math concepts.
• Must be able to lift up to 100 pounds.
• CPR/First Aid certification preferred or obtainable within 2 months.
• Must pass post-offer physical and background checks.

Responsibilities

• Provide direct instruction and supervision for students with disabilities.
• Modify materials and the classroom environment as directed by teachers.
• Identify and support peer relationships and natural supports.
• Follow behavior intervention plans and monitor safety in school areas.
• Maintain required forms and student records as requested.
• Collaborate with teachers and paraprofessionals to support students.
