Job summary

Davenport Community Schools is seeking Special Education Para Educators for 7-hour positions to support students with diverse needs. Entry wage is $14.93/hr with higher rates for new hires and a $4.00 special education differential as outlined in the MOA.

Responsibilities include assisting in academic and behavioral support under the supervision of S.E. staff, attending trainings, and collaborating with teachers and administrators to ensure FAPE. Positions require flexibility and strong teamwork.

Qualifications

• Must be willing to attend any additional required evening trainings or meetings during the school year or during the summer.
• Must be willing to accept feedback from specialists and special education facilitator regarding implementation and use feedback to implement changes in instruction.
• Must be willing to follow directives of classroom teacher, building administration, and district administration.
• Must have good people skills to work with students, others in the classroom and the building.

Responsibilities

• Provide services for Special Education students as needed in the special or general education setting.
• Under the direction of the Special Education teacher, provide academic assistance, behavior interventions, and instruction of social skills and daily living skills.
• Attend field trips with students as necessary.
• Supervise students in classroom, at lunch/breakfast, in the building, on field trips and at work sites.
• Accompany students to and from the bus and assist in transportation-related tasks.
• Assist students with changing clothes, hygiene needs, and daily personal care if required.
• Assist one or more students in general education classes and provide support as directed by the teacher or principal.
