Job summary

Summit Public Schools is seeking a Special Education Teacher (Case Manager) in Redwood City, CA to support students with IEPs across advisory groups and school systems. You will manage IEPs, coordinate with general education staff and families, and lead IEP meetings in a collaborative, project-based learning environment.

You will contribute to Summit’s model of small, heterogeneous schools, ongoing professional development, and a commitment to equitable, rigorous education for all students.

Qualifications

  • Teaching Credential in California, Washington, or another US state.
  • Bachelor’s Degree (a Master’s Degree in Education is preferred, but not required).
  • Clear health and background check.
  • Teaching experience in your subject preferred, but not required.
  • Experience with California’s electronic IEP system, SEIS, preferred.
  • Experience writing state compliant IEPs, preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Support design and implementation of accommodated instruction and IEP goals.
  • Facilitate IEP-based instruction in a resource room setting.
  • Provide case management for a caseload of students with IEPs.
  • Consult with general education teachers to adjust core curriculum.
  • Collaborate with school staff, related service providers and parents to review educational plans annually.
  • Lead development and design of IEPs, including facilitating meetings.
  • Administer and interpret diagnostic assessments to determine strengths and needs.
  • Create and maintain required notifications, records, and reports.
  • Maintain knowledge of current regulations pertaining to diverse learners.
  • Serve on a professional development team with other Special Education Teachers.
  • Provide support during office hours before/after school weekly.
  • Utilize an instructional coach to develop educator skills.
  • Student day generally 8:00–5:00 with early start and late finish constraints.

Teaching Credential (CA/Washington/US state)
Bachelor’s Degree
Master’s Degree in Education (preferred)
